What is Acupuncture?

Traditional Acupuncture is a branch of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

It uses very fine needles (not much thicker than a hair), inserted at specific points on the body, to rebalance it's flow of energy. Our energies need to be abundant, smooth and freely moving for our body to function optimally for vibrant health.

When our vital force energy (known as Qi, pronounced Chee) is blocked we become out of sorts, in pain or ill both physically and emotionally.  This can occur for all kinds of reasons from both internal and external causes. A traditional Acupuncturist, is skilled in diagnosing and addressing these imbalances.

Traditional acupuncture treats both acute and chronic conditions. It is also a preventative medicine. Prevention is definitely better than cure. In TCM the body is understood as an inter-connected whole. There is no separation between the physical and mental emotional (all are aspects of Qi) body.
